TITHING

The Scripture is clear. Members of the Christian community, the Church, must be Tithers. Christians are to give one tenth of their time, talent and treasure for the ministry of Christ through the Church. We only need to read the scriptures to be aware of our giving responsibilities as disciples, and Christian people.

Offerings at Peoples Church Each Sunday
At Peoples Church the offering is received to support the work of Christ through Peoples Church. We encourage our members and friends to move toward the tithe (10% of income before or after taxes) in giving to the Church. Additionally, the following offerings are received:

The Deacons' Offering
(First Sunday at 11am and Second Sunday at 8:30am)
A fund administered by the Deacons and the Minister for persons and families with critical needs.

Peoples Food Pantry
(Third Sunday at 8:30am and 11am)
An offering is received to aid families and elderly persons.

Peoples Scholarship Endowment
(Fourth Sunday at 8:30 and 11am)
An offering is received to support education.

Mortgage Elimination Fund
(Fifth Sunday at 8:30 and 11am)
This offering is designed so that the Church can invest more in ministry.

PENNIES AND COINS FOR PEOPLES - A MORTGAGE ELIMINATION PROJECT - A DIME A DAY! Each member and friend is asked to save at least a dime a day for the Mortgage Elimination. Our goal is $30,000. If each member, friend, and Sunday School student is diligent in saving a dime a day, we can even exceed our goal by December 31, 2006. You may bring your pennies and coins on any Sunday, but the Special Report Dates are: June 25, 2006 and September 24, 2006.

REMEMBER PEOPLES CHURCH IN YOUR WILL

A will is your voice giving instructions for how your estate, all that you have accumulated through a lifetime of hard work, should be distributed.

If you die without making a will, it is likely that your property will not end up in the hands of those you would choose. The state does have a plan for the disposition of your property, and although it is meant to be a fair resolution for all situations, the legislators could not possibly anticipate the circumstances of the millions of individuals who die without a will.

God expects us to be faithful whether it be a little or a lot. Making a will is a way to celebrate all God has given us. For more information about wills contact your Minister, or the Peoples Planned Giving Ministry at 202-829-5511.
